2Day FM has cleared up speculation about the future of the Hughsey, Ed and Erin breakfast show.

Rumours swirled last week that the Hit Network’s national drive hosts Tommy Little and Carrie Bickmore would be taking over the Sydney breakfast slot in 2023 following Bickmore’s departure from Channel 10’s The Project.

However, Erin Molan shut down the gossip on Monday by confirming on LinkedIn she and her co-hosts Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee aren’t going anywhere.

‘Completely unprompted,’ Molan began her post, presumably referring to the recent speculation surrounding her show.

‘Signed a new radio deal a couple of months back… love these legends… love our breakfast show listeners (the number of whom has almost doubled in a year) and feel very grateful to be part of Southern Cross Austereo,’ she added.

Hughesy, Ed and Erin took over 2Day FM’s breakfast slot in January, but the show has failed to rise to the top of the ratings ladder despite growing its audience.

Television industry veteran Robert McKnight believes Bickmore's future lies at the helm of 2Day FM's Sydney breakfast show. She already hosts the Hit Network's top-rating drive show alongside Tommy Little (left) and is said to be earning a million dollars per year

The show reached an all-time ratings low in 2021, but has been clawing its way back and hit its highest-ever listenership earlier this year.

Yet the program still remains at the bottom of the pack, trailing behind Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa and KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

It comes after well-placed sources denied reports Bickmore was being considered for 2Day FM’s breakfast show.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, sources familiar with the negotiations said Bickmore won’t be leaving the  show, which airs weekdays from 3-6pm.

Bickmore’s reported $1.5million radio salary will also remain unchanged.

It comes after a Nine Network executive denied rumours Bickmore is joining the Today show following her announcement she is leaving Channel 10’s The Project.

Industry sources said Bickmore, who has been linked to the Today gig on at least one other occasion, will take up the job in 2023 alongside , while is drafted to replace Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair.

But Steven Burling, Nine’s Director of Morning Television, shut down these claims on , saying the proposed moves will not be happening.
